- For a pre-shampoo treatment: Apply 1 to 2 capfuls of L’Huile de Leonor Greyl to your dry length and ends and evenly distribute using a natural bristle brush. Leave on for at least 10 minutes or overnight before shampooing.
- For protection from the sun and chlorinated water: Apply to dry hair as previously described and reapply as needed.
- The oil might solidify in cool temperatures. If that happens, simply run warm water over the closed bottle until the product liquifies.
Pro Tip: Use as a leave-in styling product for very dry or frizzy hair. Pour 3 drops into your palm, emulsify and run the brush lightly over your palm before brushing hair.

The idea for L’Huile de Leonor Greyl, formerly known as L’Huile de Palme, was born during a Greyl family trip to the French West Indies in the 1970s. Finding himself stranded during a hurricane, Jean-Marie Greyl noticed that the rain streamed down the leaves of palm trees without really penetrating them. The plant’s incredible properties inspired him to use its oil in a pre-shampoo treatment that could protect hair by forming a waterproof film around each strand. Applied on the beach between swims, in salons as pre-color protection, or at home to repair hair, this oil quickly became a cult favorite. In 2013, palm oil was removed from the formula in favor of two new sustainably-sourced ingredients: coconut and mongongo oil.

I can wake up and have beautiful tousled curls before I wash my hair later that day + I know it has reduced split ends and I attribute a large part of my hairs health to this product. I love this oil for my color treated hair. I put on my hair and leave in sometimes for a day ( if not leaving the house) then wash. My hair is very thick and very dry. This oil really moistures my hair I also put it on at the beach while sunning! Great scent!

This is the first Leonor Greyl product I tried. It does a great job of protecting & improving the hair. With thick, wavy , frizzy hair I am always looking for products to promote silkiness. This one is a winner!

I use this product 2 ways.
I use it as pre-shampoo because 1) I prefer not putting on any products after washing and drying my hair and 2) I am not a huge fan of the scent (I like the bamboo ones!). My hair gets very tangled (i have long, permed curls) especially after my stay at the beach or the mountains, and this works well for frizzy, tangled, and dry hair. It took me a while to make this product work because a TINY amount goes a long way. I would’t apply it directly because it will get pretty oily. I warm the oil in the palm of my hand and only apply on my hairs beneath my ears. I also use this when I want a clean, sharp ponytail.

Best hair treatment for healthy, beautiful hair! I put it on dry hair and sleep with it overnight. In the morning I wash twice and use conditioner. The results are amazing!! It doesn’t weigh down my hair and is more effective than just coconut oil. I highly recommend this pre shampoo treatment for gorgeous hair!

Not a Huge fan of this one, I used it before I shampoo and I felt like my hair was pretty oily. I can see using this maybe with a lighter shampoo, it might work but otherwise, for my hair type, it was a but much. It would be good to use before I go to the beach or pool day.

This oil is very penetrating and is an amazing product for improving hair health. You can tell that Leonor Greyl products don’t alter the natural goodness of their ingredients- which is why, for example, you’ll see the coconut oil component solidify at room temperature.
