The idea of including propolis in a shampoo came to Jean-Marie Greyl after a family trip to Egypt, where he learned that ancient Egyptians used this resin-like bee byproduct to preserve mummies because of its remarkable anti-microbial properties. After 10 years of research, he introduced Bain Traitant à la Propolis to the market in 1994 as the first gentle dandruff treatment shampoo of its kind for everyday use.

  1. Danielle R.

I have literally searched for 10 years for a shampoo that fixed my scalp and didn’t damage my color. This shampoo is the only thing that worked for me – it took a bit for it to fully balance out, but I won’t buy another shampoo after trying this one.

  2. Cheryl Dudas

Bain Traitant à la Propolis fixed my flaky scalp after only 3 uses and leaves my hair clean, shiny, and smelling wonderful. I love that its sulfate free and cruelty free shampoo

  3. sarah Marel-Schaffer

My go to shampoo whenever I feel my scalp starting to crust a little. Works wonders!

  4. Christine T.

This shampoo saved my hair from hair loss related to sebum related dermatitis. It made my existing hair healthier, stopped the fall within a couple weeks, and I have a couple inches new growth now with continued use. I also use this alone and with the Creme de Fluers for a deep treatment option. A lifesaver!! Especially if you get oily scalp in summer or irritation. I don’t have dandruff but my scalp wasn’t right and now it’s never been healthier.

  5. Anne Franc

This product has been my go-to for more than 20 years! I always go back to it when my scalp gets itchy or flaky, or just when I want clean, shiny, healthy hair and scalp. I am happy I was finally able to purchase it in the professional size pump because I have converted my whole family! This is simply the best shampoo out there.

  6. Stuart

Finally, a sulfate free, cruelty free, non-toxic shampoo /treatment for my itchy scalp. Works like magic.

  7. sarah marel

Excellent shampoo for dandruff or scalp psoriasis. I use it when I feel things are starting to get bad. It really works like a charm.

  8. Ellie Miller

My scalp feels so clean, but not tight or dry, and this product is so gentle it doesn’t add any extra damage to my color treated hair.

  9. Stuart Zionch

I have suffered from an itchy scalp for many years, tried many different shampoos, all to no avail. Most of them smelled awful, and were intended for dandruff, which I do not have, Also, they did nothing to stop the itch. As I get older, I also realize the negative consequences of putting so many chemicals on my hair and skin; I am trying hard to get away from that. Cruelty-free is another quality I look for in all my products.
This fabulous shampoo checks all the boxes, and my scalp has not been itchy at all since I began to use it. Now that I know how effective this shampoo is, I am gradually introducing other products from this fine hair care line into my daily routine. I’m already using Eclat Natural and I love it (look for another review there). Merci beaucoup Leonor Greyl!

  10. Diana

I absolutely love this shampoo. I developed a dandruff/flaking issue on my scalp. No other shampoo that I tried cleared me of it. Nothing the dermatologists’ recommended helped me. Bain Traitant à la Propolis is a miracle worker and leaves your hair feeling amazing. Thank you Leonor Greyl!
