Should You Prepare Your Scalp for Winter?

Does your scalp need extra protection during the upcoming cold and dry season? It sure does.

“Coming off of the summer season, it is vital that we winterize our clients’ scalps,” celebrity stylist Ricardo Rojas recently explained to Behind the Chair.

What is one of the essential ingredients to ensuring your scalp doesn’t get dry and flaky next month?

“I’m a big fan of Palm Oil treatments—this is an incredible ointment that when applied to the hair helps to protect each individual strand and completely revitalize the scalp. For these specific treatments, I resort to Leonor Greyl’s SOIN Naturel de Cheveu only mixed with Leonor Greyl’s Huile Germe De Ble. The chamomile is best for blondes. The after effect: hair is thoroughly cleaned, the scalps pores are opened, and your hair will feel as if each strand has a lot of movement and vibration,” Rojas says.

“I recommend applying an oil treatment to the scalp once a month, especially heading into the wintertime.” says Ricardo. “My favorite product is the Regenerescence Naturelle by Leonor Greyl as I find it to be the most regenerative for the hair.”

How does he do it?

  1. Apply the oil before shampooing, going part by part and section by section, using at least two drops per section.
  2. Massage for about three to five minutes.
  3. Follow up with shampoo and conditioner and style as usual.
