Leonor Greyl at the Golden Globes

At the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Leonor Greyl products were used by celebrity stylists Robert Vetica, Johnnie Sapong, and Mara Roszak to create red carpet looks for Cate Blanchett, Daniel Craig, and Ana de Armas. Read on for the complete breakdown:

Cate Blanchett

Celebrity hairstylist Robert Vetica used Leonor Greyl products to create an ethereal updo for Cate Blanchett—nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical Comedy for her work in Where’d You Go, Bernadette.

“Cate wore a beautiful Mary Katrantzou dress, which was the inspiration for the hair,” Vetica says. “We wanted the hair to be soft and ethereal to keep things from leaning retro.”

Beginning with clean, wet hair, Vetica applied Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice to provide texture and volume. Pairing Olivia Garden Ceramic+ion Hair Dryer with Olivia Garden Private Collection Ceramic Bristle Brush 1.5″ provided smoothness and shine while minimizing frizz.

After creating a side part, Vetica reached for Leonor Greyl Laque Souple styling spray and the Olivia Garden Ceramic+ion Flat Iron. Starting at the front of the head, he divided hair into two-inch sections before curling. “I sprayed Laque Souple on each section, then used the iron to create a full curl to give the hair body,” he said. He repeated this process, section by section, until all hair was finished. “I sprayed each section before and after with Leonor Greyl Laque Souple to ensure shine and hold,” he says. Once all hair was curled, he brushed out the hair and used an “ample amount” of Leonor Greyl Laque Souple for hold.

Next, he back-combed all over before using Leonor Greyl Voluforme styling spray on only the roots. “Using the Olivia Garden styling brush, I brushed the hair into the desired shape, clipping as I moved along the sides and toward the back,” he says. “Once I was happy with the shape, I secured hair to the back of the head and used bobby pins to achieve an unkempt knot—all the while, spraying Laque Souple for hold.” Vetica lightly finished the style with fingers, strategically pulling out flyaways to frame Cate’s face. “Doing this helps achieve a soft, feminine, unkempt hairdo,” he says. The final step: One last misting of Leonor Greyl Voluforme where needed.

Daniel Craig

Celebrity hairstylist Johnie Sapong used Leonor Greyl products on Daniel Craig to create a fresh and clean look. Daniel’s hair was combed through with Leonor Greyl’s Gel A L’hibiscus focusing on root area to give some lift and the hair was blow dried with a comb. “Once dried I used Leonor Greyl Baume Bois de Rose to shape the hair and finished with Leonor Greyl Lacque Souple for added hold,” Johnnie said.

Ana de Armas

Celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak sent best actress in a motion picture (musical or comedy) nominee Ana de Armas down the red carpet in a modern, twisted low ponytail look created using Leonor Greyl products.

“Ana’s long, custom navy sequin Ralph Russo dress has this really beautiful, classic silhouette, but it’s also really modern. There’s something really cool about it while still being really classic, and we wanted the hair to reflect that. The dress set the tone.”

Roszak started by putting a center part in de Armas’ towel-dried hair. “She’s got really gorgeous, thick hair, and I added the Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice all over to give it texture,” Roszak says. She applied a golf-ball size amount of the mousse to de Armas’ roots and raked it through to the ends before rough-drying it with a blow-dryer and a paddle brush.

Next, using her fingers, Roszak created two 2-inch pin curls about 2 inches behind the Knives Out star’s hairline and sprayed them with the Leonor Greyl Voluforme styling spray to amplify the volume at the top of the hair. “The product is the perfect mid-process styling spray because it gives hair texture, but you can still work with it,” she adds.

From there, Roszak pulled de Armas’ hair back into a low ponytail at the nape of her neck, but instead of securing it with an elastic, she twisted the hair and used U-pins at the base to keep it in place. To seal the ends and give it polish and dimension, she used a small amount of the Leonor Greyl Éclat Naturel styling cream. “It’s truly such a favorite product of mine; I cannot do a hairstyle without it. It gave this look a sort of piecey-ness to the ends.”

A few spritzes of the Leonor Greyl Laque Souple hairspray finished the look. “The look overall is pretty modern but classic. It feels timeless but it also feels cool.”
