That’s the thesis of a new article on Vogue.com talking about the mounting evidence that the health of the hair actually starts with the products we use on the scalp. The magazine interviewed some of the country’s top dermatologists and product experts about what exactly makes our hair beautiful from the inside out. Our own Caroline Greyl weighed in:
“Monthly in-salon hair treatments have long been the preferred beauty ritual for chic Parisiennes. At the city’s storied Leonor Greyl Institute, a sunny loft-like sanctuary tucked away in the 8th arrondissement, devotees swear by the salon’s hour-and-a-half scalp remedy: Using the company’s cult essential oil–based Régénérescence Naturelle tonic and a masque spiked with potent botanical extracts—ginseng to revive fine hair, propolis to resolve flakiness—the deeply relaxing service also incorporates a halo of steam to encourage absorption. To finish, a unique glass suction bulb is “twisted from the nape to the crown to boost circulation and bring oxygen to the scalp,” says the company’s Caroline Greyl, who describes the ritual as “a lot like cupping, but for your head.”
Régénérescence is a scalp treatment formulated with essential and botanical oils that will stimulate and purify the scalp while encouraging hair growth. It is suitable for all scalp conditions and increases the surface blood and circulation, preventing deficiencies of the scalp.
How is it used? Apply to dry scalp section by section and gently massage in. Leave on for at least 15 minutes or overnight if desired and wash out using the shampoo or treatment suitable for your hair type and scalp condition.
