Compassionate and Cruelty-Free: Leonor Greyl Receives Leaping Bunny Certification

Designation affirms our decades-long commitment to never test on animals

Leonor Greyl is honored to be awarded the prestigious Leaping Bunny certification, which celebrates our decades-long pledge to NEVER test our products on animals. The Leaping Bunny logo, which you’ll start seeing on our packages later this year, is the gold standard in cruelty-free designations, so we couldn’t be prouder!

From the start in 1968, founders Leonor and Jean-Marie Greyl pledged to create animal-friendly and botanically-based products. Following this core value, they helped lead the way for cruelty-free luxury haircare and cosmetics brands.

“Providing safe products that are natural and never tested on animals has been our family mission for over 50 years,” says Caroline Greyl, the founders’ daughter and brand president. “Animal testing is cruel and unnecessary. The Leaping Bunny logo is just one more way consumers can be confident that compassion, honesty, and clean beauty are Leonor Greyl’s top priorities.”

The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics awards the Leaping Bunny certification to companies that promise not to test products on animals during any stage of development. A brands’ ingredient suppliers also make the same pledge. The designation is awarded only after a detailed review.

Some other products may claim to be “cruelty-free” or “not tested on animals,” however those declarations might refer only to the finished product, according to the folks at Leaping Bunny.

Leonor Greyl applauds the ongoing global push to stop the sale of animal-tested cosmetics. The European Union banned sales starting in 2013, and the EU parliament called for an international ban by 2023. While some 40 countries have adopted restrictions, others still allow it. In the U.S., individual states recently adopted bans (California, Nevada, and Illinois), and a handful of other states are considering it. China, meanwhile, still requires animal testing, although there are signs its laws are loosening.
