FAQs

Is it ok to wash my hair everyday?

It’s ok to wash your hair everyday if you use a gentle shampoo that will keep your scalp clean but will not dry out your hair. Leonor Greyl Shampooing au Miel is a gentle everyday volumizing shampoo and another option is to use the Lait Lavant a la Banane in between shampoos. This milky formula containing proteins and collagen will add softness, volume, body and bounce to fine, limp and oily hair. Lather is minimal and extremely gentle. It is ideal for daily use and after exercising.

Does Leonor Greyl test product on animals?

NO! We test products on ourselves.

Are your products environmentally safe?

Yes! We are committed to developing product safe for our environment. All of our suppliers have strict rules on not only the quality of their products but also the way it is harvested. There is no deforestation involved in the process.

How do I protect my hair from harsh weather?

Huile de Palme is very effective at providing protection against the damaging effects of sun, seawater and chlorinated pool water. It’s the perfect blend to protect and restore damaged length and ends as well as your color. Apply using small amounts to your dry hair from ears down. Leave oil on your hair for up to 10 minutes or all night for a deep conditioning treatment. Wash out with a shampoo or treatment suitable for your hair type.

Is silicone bad for my hair?

Yes. Continued use of silicone-based products will result in heavy build-up. Silicone will coat the hair eventually causing hair to go limp and break.

Huile de Palme vs. Olive Oil?

Huile de Palme has multiple uses and effects. It is a blend of botanical and vegetal oils and can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment to help detangle hair, protect and nourish. In addition, it has natural UVA/B filters that will protect your hair from the sun. Olive oil will coat your hair but has no nourishing value and offers no protection from UVA/B rays.

What do I do when my Huile de Palme is solid?

This is normal. Simply run the bottle under warm water until the top layer liquefies. You do not need to liquefy the entire bottle. You only need a small amount. Start with a dime size and apply more if needed.

Why doesn’t the Bamboo shampoo lather-up like others?

This is normal. The Bamboo shampoo is a conditioning shampoo formulated specifically to condition and nourish dry hair. If emulsified slowly, it will build into a very gentle and creamy lather. Take care in rinsing thoroughly. Results are immediate and spectacular. Shine, flexibility and manageability are restored.

How is your dandruff shampoo different from other brands?

The Bain Traitant a la Propolis is a very gentle everyday dandruff treatment shampoo. Results are instant with this gentle combination of propolis and botanical active ingredients which prevent the development of microbial flora and scalp irritation. This shampoo is coal tar-free unlike most other brands.

What is the difference between a conditioner and a masque?

There is no difference. The names / terms are interchangeable.

How long should I leave the conditioner / or masque on my hair before rinsing out?

If your time is limited, simply apply, comb through and rinse. The longer you leave it on the better the effect.

What is the best way to control frizz in humid conditions?

Apply a leave-in styling cream to wet or dry hair. Use Serum de Soie Sublimateur for fine hair and Eclat Naturel for thick and dry hair. Use small amounts. Start with a pea size and add more if needed.

How often should I ‘deep condition’ my hair?

At least once a week is ideal. Begin by applying Huile de Palme to your dry hair from ears down and comb or brush through for optimal distribution. Then apply the Masque Fleurs de Jasmin for fine hair, Masque Orchidee for thick and frizzy hair or Crème Regeneratrice for damaged hair. Leave on for at least 15 minutes, comb through and rinse.
